Gyumri

About the city

Gyumri is the second largest city in Armenia and the administrative center of Shirak Province. Contemporary Gyumri, which has preserved the features of an ancient city, is located in the northwestern part of the country. The city is considered the cultural capital of Armenia, which bestowed the world with many famous artists, entertainers, poets, actors, directors, etc. Gyumri is also known for its master craftsmen (translated from Armenian as ‘Varpet’), for which it gained the status of the City of Craftsmen.
